Living in Solo

Solo is often regarded as the cultural heart of Java, known for its aristocratic refinement and artistic accomplishment. The Solonese traditional dance, gamelan music, wayang puppetry and traditional Batik patterns are renowned for their subtle elegance and mystical power.

Solo is also an excellent base for traveling throughout Central Java, which boasts attractions such as the mystical Mount Lawu with its enigmatic ancient temples, and the famous Borobudur Buddhist temple.

The cost of living in Solo is far lower than in larger cities like Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung and Semarang. And for those hoping to get away from the hustle and bustle and pollution of large cities and experience Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, this is definitely the place to be.

Qualifications:

• Native-speaker teachers should have a university degree and a recognized teaching qualification such as the CELTA/Trinity TESOL or equivalent.
• We have a strong focus on teacher development and our teachers are expected to participate in our teacher observation program and teacher development workshops.

Eligibility

Due to Indonesian employment laws, only nationals of the following countries may apply; UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

Compensation:

* Monthly Rupiah salary based on qualifications and experience;
* 40-hour 5-day work week / up to 25 contact teaching hours.
* Overtime compensation;
* Fully-paid visa and work permit;
* Flight allowance;
* 25 days of paid holidays + approx 10 days of paid national holidays;
* Medical insurance;
* Accommodation in teachers’ house;
