This advert was posted on: Sunday, June 22, 2008
Zayed University is seeking a number of well-qualified English language instructors to join the University in August 2008 and January 2009.
Zayed University, a premier university in the United Arab Emirates, is an innovative institution based on an international model of higher education. With 600 faculty and staff serving 3,500 students across two main campuses - as well as satellite locations - in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the University prepares graduates to become leaders in government, business, civil society, and family life. The University expects its graduates to be fully bilingual in English and Arabic, proficient in the use of computing technology, and strong in quantitative and research skills. The language of business and instruction at the University is English.
Zayed University is fully accredited in the U.A.E. and is a candidate for accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in the U.S.A.
The United Arab Emirates is a progressive country known for its high standard of living and its safe and family-friendly environment.
The Opportunities
Due to the expansion of the English Language Center, ZU is looking to recruit well-qualified language instructors to join the University in August 2008 and January 2009. Appointed instructors (male or female) will be part of a multi-cultural team working in the English Language Center.
The English Language Center provides language courses to the University’s pre-baccalaureate students using an integrated-skills, content-based approach. Course materials are currently being prepared as part of a textbook initiative funded by the University. Instructors have a teaching load of twenty contact hours per week with classes that seldom exceed fifteen students per class.
The Requirements
Applicants must have an M.A. in TESOL/linguistics, or an M.A. in a related field and have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience, preferably at the adult or tertiary level. A recognized teaching qualification is highly desirable.
The Benefits
The University’s benefits package is highly attractive, with competitive salaries free of tax in the United Arab Emirates, housing, a furniture allowance, annual vacation airline tickets for the employee and immediate family, educational subsidies for children and subsidized healthcare for the employee.
To Apply
Please complete an online application at www.zu.ac.ae and attach a letter of application, a current CV, the names and contact details of at least three referees and a statement of your undergraduate teaching philosophy.
