Shane Schools Japan and Taiwan is currently recruiting teachers and positions are available monthly from June (Taiwan) and end of August (Japan).
Teach in Tokyo
SESJ offers qualified EFL teachers a challenging and rewarding experience in the Tokyo area. The position offers a better than average benefit package including reimbursed airfare, paid transportation, paid holidays and an opportunity to teach extra hours to save a bit more. The school offers a great deal in teacher support, from arrival through to additional advanced training.
The teaching is usually in very small classes, maximum ten (10), but the average is about five (5). The teaching mix is about 50% young learners and 50% adults. A lot of the teaching involves one-on-one classes. For successful candidates, training in teaching Young Learners is provided during the first week in Japan.
Teachers (CELTA qualified or equivalent) are paid a monthly salary of Y258,000 (approximately £720 to £760). Teachers whose teaching hours exceed 275 per quarter are also paid a bonus of Y2,000 for each extra hour taught depending upon qualifications and, teacher experience. Most teachers earn a bonus and the average bonus is usually in the region of Y20,000. Potential annual savings of between £2,500 to £4,000 are easily achievable. Teachers will have about twenty-five days paid holidays per year.
SESJ is predominantly a British School. If you are a native English speaker from the UK, have a recognized BA and an EFL Teaching certificate, we would be very interested in meeting with you to discuss teaching opportunities in Japan.
Once we have completed an interview and you have been accepted by Shane Schools, it will take 8-10 weeks to arrange a visa.
Please note that we will only be able to reply to candidates who meet all three minimum requirements.
Native speaker from the UK, Australia or New Zealand. (The school’s niche in Japan is British English.)

Culture Shock! Taiwan: A Guide to Customs and Etiquette
"The Guide to Taiwan was enlightening, funny and an overall a joy to read. When I reached the last page of this book I was armed and ready to begin my assault upon South East Asian cuisine, night life and polite society - who could ask for more?"
