The course materials presented at Notting Hill College follows the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment. The main aim of the courses is to provide a standardised method of assessing and teaching which applies to all languages in Europe. The language levels are compatible with the widely accepted six reference levels.

The Common European Framework divides learners into three broad divisions, which can be divided into six levels:

A Basic User

A1 Breakthrough
A2 Waystage

B Independent User

B1 Threshold
B2 Vantage

C Proficient User

C1 Effective Operational Proficiency
C2 Mastery

These levels describe what a learner is supposed to be able to do in reading, listening, speaking and writing at each level.

International examinations

The course materials at Notting Hill College prepares students to pass the international exams of many languages, such as London Test of English, IELTS in English; DELF and DALF in French; CILS and CELI in Italian, and so on.
