Job description
- Teach English in Korean public schools through the EPIK (English Program in Korea) Spring 2027 intake
- Teach elementary, middle, or high school students depending on placement
- Work alongside a Korean co-teacher in a supportive public school environment
- Typical class sizes are approximately 20–35 students
- Focus on conversational English, communication skills, and cultural exchange
- Use engaging, student-centered activities and communicative teaching methods
- Follow the school’s curriculum and lesson plans while incorporating creative activities
- Work approximately 22 teaching hours per week, with additional preparation and administrative duties
- Positions are available throughout South Korea, including metropolitan areas and provincial locations
- Applicants may indicate a preferred location, although final placement depends on program availability
- Spring 2027 applications open August 1, 2026 (Korvia deadline October 30th)
Salary and benefits
- Monthly salary: Approximately 2.3~2.8 million KRW, depending on placement, qualifications, and EPIK pay level
- 26 days of paid vacation, in addition to Korean national holidays
- Furnished single housing or housing support, depending on the placement
- Settlement allowance upon arrival
- Entrance allowance and contract completion allowance, subject to EPIK terms
- National health insurance and pension contributions
- Paid sick leave
- Week-long EPIK orientation and training before beginning teaching
- Monday–Friday public school schedule

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree: Required
- Teaching experience: Not required
- TEFL/TESOL: A 100+ hour TEFL/TESOL qualification is generally required unless the applicant meets EPIK’s applicable education-degree exemption
- Nationality: Applicants must generally be citizens of the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa
- Native-level English proficiency
- Must meet EPIK and Korean E-2 visa eligibility requirements
- Must provide a clean, eligible national-level criminal background check
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm for working with students and participating in cultural exchange
- Flexibility and adaptability when working in a new cultural and educational environment
