These guidelines explain how we create, review, and maintain our content so it remains accurate, transparent, and worthy of your trust.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help teachers and aspiring teachers find clear, practical, and trustworthy information about Teaching English as a Foreign Language. We want to help as many people as possible experience the life-changing rewards of TEFL, and we’re passionate about achieving this.
We’ve been part of the TEFL world for over 25 years, and everything we share is based on first‑hand classroom, teacher training, and school management experience. These guidelines set out how we create, review, and update our content so you can trust what you read.
1. Our Content Creation Process
- All articles are written or reviewed by qualified TEFL professionals. Keith Taylor, Cambridge DELTA-qualified and with over 25 years’ experience teaching and training in multiple countries, leads our editorial review.
- We prioritise first‑hand insights over recycled or generic advice.
- Where facts and figures are included – such as visa rules, salaries, or course requirements – we cite reputable, official sources (e.g. government websites, recognised accreditation bodies).
2. Accuracy and Updates
- We fact‑check information before publication and verify official sources during the writing process.
- Core articles and country guides are reviewed at least annually, or sooner if significant changes occur (e.g. new visa rules).
- Updates are noted at the top or bottom of the article so you can see when it was last reviewed.
3. Transparency and Integrity
- Any partnerships, affiliations, sponsored listings, or commissions are clearly disclosed.
- Some TEFL course and language school listings are paid placements. Paid listings appear in designated areas and are marked as “Sponsored” so readers can distinguish them from our independent content.
- Job listings are a mix of free and paid placements. Paid listings are not marked individually but may appear more prominently or higher in the list. All jobs – free or paid – must meet our posting standards.
- Editorial content and course recommendations in our guides are based on our own experience and quality assessment, and are not influenced by payments.
- We do not accept payment in exchange for positive reviews or favourable editorial coverage.
4. Job Posting Standards
All job listings on Eslbase – whether free or paid – must meet our posting standards. We review each listing to help ensure it:
- Is clear and accurate: The job description, requirements, and benefits should be honestly represented.
- Is appropriate for our audience: Listings should be for legitimate English language teaching roles or closely related positions.
- Complies with relevant laws: We require advertisers to ensure their listings meet local employment, visa, and anti-discrimination laws in the country where the role is based.
- Encourages sufficient detail: Advertisers are strongly encouraged to include key information such as location, contract type, working hours, and salary or benefits (where legally permitted).
- Meets professional standards: We do not accept jobs that are misleading, exploitative, or that undermine the professionalism of English language teaching.
We reserve the right to refuse or remove any listing that does not meet these standards.
5. Course and School Listing Standards

Our goal is to keep Eslbase dependable and genuinely useful. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

- Regular reviews: Core guides are re‑checked at least annually, with a visible “last updated” date on the page.
- Disclosures: Partnerships and affiliate relationships are stated clearly; recommendations are never paid for.
- Corrections policy: Readers can report issues and we fix confirmed errors promptly.
