We believe in being transparent about how Eslbase is funded and how this relates to the content you see on our site.
1. What counts as advertising on Eslbase
- Paid listings: TEFL job, course, and language school listings where a fee is paid to appear on Eslbase.
- Recruitment partnerships: Jobs we post on behalf of an employer where we may receive a commission if a candidate we refer is hired.
- Internships & job placement programmes: Programmes where we may receive a commission if you apply through Eslbase and are accepted.
- Sponsored placements: Prominent placements (e.g., blocks or cards) purchased by an advertiser.
- Banner advertising: Graphic or text-based ads displayed in clearly defined areas.
- Affiliate links: Links where we may earn a commission if you click and make a purchase or enquiry.
Paid listings may appear more prominently or higher in a list. All listings – free or paid – must meet our editorial posting standards, and payment does not influence whether a listing is accepted.
2. Job listings
Job listings are a mix of free and paid placements. We do not label paid job ads individually because the same acceptance standards apply to all jobs, and payment does not affect our decision to accept or reject a listing.
Some roles are posted through recruitment partnerships. In these cases, applications may be collected by Eslbase and forwarded to the employer, and we may receive a commission if an applicant is hired. A disclosure appears on the relevant job page (above the application form) and on the TEFL jobs page.
For more on what we check before publishing jobs, see our Job Posting Standards.
3. Course & school listings
- Some TEFL course and language school listings are paid placements.
- Paid course/school listings appear in designated areas and are marked as “Sponsored” so they can be distinguished from independent editorial content (or the section containing them includes a clear paid-partnership notice).
- Acceptance standards are applied consistently to both free and paid listings.
For details on our acceptance criteria, see our Course & School Listing Standards.
4. Internships & job placement programmes
Internships and job placement programmes on Eslbase are offered via partnerships. If you apply through Eslbase and are accepted onto a programme, we may receive a commission. A disclosure appears on the internships index and on each relevant programme page (above the application form).
For acceptance criteria, see our Internship & Job Placement Programme Standards.
5. Affiliate links
- Some links on Eslbase are affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you click and make a purchase or enquiry.
- Affiliate partnerships do not influence our editorial decisions or whether a listing is accepted.
- Affiliate relationships are disclosed in this policy and clearly noted on any page that contains affiliate links.
- Links, banners, or promotions for School of TEFL are for our own TEFL course business, which is owned and operated by the same team as Eslbase.
6. Editorial independence
- Our articles, guides, and resources are created or reviewed by qualified TEFL professionals.
- We do not accept payment in exchange for positive reviews or favourable editorial coverage.
- Where a commercial relationship exists, we disclose it clearly and in context.
For details on how we create, review, and update content, see our Editorial Guidelines.
7. Separation of advertising and editorial content
- Advertising is displayed in clearly defined areas (e.g. sponsored blocks, banners, or labelled placements).
- Editorial decisions are kept separate from commercial considerations.
- Paid placements, sponsorships, or affiliate links do not influence the accuracy, tone, or recommendations in editorial content.
