What you need
- One copy of the worksheet per student (download here)
How to use the activity
- Give each student a copy of the worksheet and put them into pairs.
- Students fill in the YOU column with sentences about their last holiday. For example:
- I went to Italy.
- I stayed there for a week.
- I travelled by plane.
- For each sentence they wrote, students write a corresponding past simple question in the QUESTION column. For example:
- Where did you go?
- How long did you stay?
- How did you travel?
- Students then interview their partner using their questions and write the responses in the YOUR PARTNER column.
- Monitor and provide support as necessary. Encourage natural follow-up questions to keep the conversation flowing.
This is a great activity for practising the past simple in a real-life context while also helping students improve their question formation and speaking fluency.
