Course details

Midwest Teacher Training Program is five weeks (130 hours) in length and costs $2595. With 10 hours of practice teaching, classes in lesson planning and techniques, and a useful grammar review, Midwest offers you much more training and practice than the average TEFL course. Our instructors use a hands-on approach with fun, dynamic activities. This gives you the chance to experience and try out new strategies and techniques in a supportive learning atmosphere, while gaining both skills and confidence as a new teacher.

Our program is part of WESLI, an accredited ESL institute established in 1981, which teaches English to adult speakers from around the world. This international environment allows you to have personal contact with students from many cultures and with teachers who have taught in a variety of countries. With such a wonderful resource at our fingertips, Midwest offers you the opportunity to view and teach real English classes taught by professional ESL instructors. You will also teach your own class of international adults and receive immediate oral and written feedback from trainers with over 15 years of teaching experience.

Midwest also provides job placement assistance to help you find a position wherever you want to go. The Job Search Workshop is the first step, with ideas about creating an EFL resume, cover letter and portfolio. We have a library of thousands of EFL job openings and school addresses from Argentina to Thailand and can work with you individually to develop an effective resume, improve your interviewing skills, and find potential employers. Because we are a part of a larger ESL school, we have contacts with schools abroad. Recruiters sometimes visit Midwest and conduct interviews on site.

Visit www.mttp.com for further details and to apply on-line. Feel free to contact us for a paper application and brochure. Midwest welcomes applicants of all ages and experiences. Please note that Midwest is approved for Veteran's Benefits and offers a discount to Returned Peace Corps Volunteers.

Non-native speakers of English may also take our teacher training course. Midwest is qualified to provide an I-20 for your student visa after you are accepted to our program. If you are not a native speaker of English, please contact us for further info on the application process.
