The DELTA Course
The DELTA, which was formerly known as the DTEFLA, is the most widely recognised qualification in English Language Teaching. It is the most popular qualification for practising teachers to gain access to more senior posts in the profession.
This is a higher course for teachers with at least two years experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages. It focuses on methodology, theory and practical teaching skills.

All DELTA courses must contain the following elements:
120 contact hours between candidates and course tutors
10 hours of teaching practice by each candidate (of which 5 hours are formally assessed)
10 hours directed observation or lessons
a minimum of 300 hours reading, research and assignment writing outside timetabled hours.
Internally and externally-assessed assignments and a written examination
