Trinity Cert TESOL

The Certificate in TESOL course is a substantial course of initial training intended for people who would like to make this their career. This Certificate is validated by Trinity College London and recognised by the British Council. If you are looking for jobs in the Times Educational Supplement or Education Guardian, you will see references to the RSA Cambridge Certificate or Trinity College Certificate. The British Council recognises both courses as roughly equivalent.

This course, therefore, is considerably more demanding than the Introduction to TESOL. There is a large amount of coursework on planning and teaching to do, which is assessed and contributes to your final grade.

The entrance requirement for the Certificate in TESOL is that you should be 18 or over, have a native speaker level of English (Cambridge Proficiency in English or equivalent), and preferably you should have followed a course of further or higher education or at least have sufficient educational qualifications to gain entry to higher education. Some countries will only accept teachers who are graduates. You will be asked to attend an interview and complete a comprehensive pre-interview task. No trainee can be accepted onto the course without an interview.

As the course is very demanding you should be sure you have the time and commitment to complete it.

Although Aberdeen College writes the course syllabus and does the assessment, Trinity College London has the final say in awarding Certificates.
