Our TEFL course is recognised intermationally and has been hailed by partcipants as empowering and life-changing. Intensive, but fun and engaging. Full time - evenings, Duration: 3 - 5 weeks depending on the practical training you require.

The Knowledge Workshop is a language and skills centre based in the beautiful university suburb of Rosebank, Cape Town.

TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)

The Knowledge Workshop offers a 100-hour course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, comprising 50 hours of theory and 50 hours of practical training.
The theory component of the course is work-shopped and process-driven, aimed at equipping participants with the necessary skills to step into any EFL/ESL environment with confidence. The course centres on the Communicative Approach to language teaching. The skills the TEFL trainee acquires are readily transferable and find application across all subject areas, not just English!
At the end of the theory component, participants go on to gain practical experience with EFL/ESL speakers. Training encompasses observation, lesson planning, teaching, assisting with classroom management and developing resources.
On completion of the course, participants receive a certificate and letter of recommendation. In the case of teachers who volunteer on one of our projects to benefit local schools where the mother-tongue is exclusively Xhosa, the teacher will also get a reference from the Department of Education.
We provide ongoing assistance and support to our graduate teachers and encourage them to keep in touch. We work with several placement agents and are in touch with many teachers currently working around the world, who can offer advice and a valuable insight.
