CELTA

The Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) is an initial English Language Teacher Training Course validated by the University of Cambridge. The qualification is recognized by adult education establishments worldwide and in Germany to teach English as a second language to adult learners. Cambridge ESOL Teaching Awards have been accredited by the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) at level 4 on the National Qualification Framework. We offer the CELTA course over 10 weeks part-time (3 x per year) or 4 weeks full-time (5 x per year). We can provide accommodation and all trainees receive guidance on finding ESL employment worldwide.

The course is extremely practical and equips trainees with the necessary knowledge and skills to work effectively as an ESL teacher. Each course comprises a total of 120 hours of time spent in the Teacher Training Centre and a minimum of 80 hours study time outside the course. The course includes:

• Methodology seminars
• Language awareness seminars
• Teaching real students
• Taking part in post-teaching feedback discussions
• Observing experienced teachers
• Supported lesson planning
• Observation of fellow trainee teachers
• One-to-one tutorials
