Job description
About Us
La Semilla Taganguera is a community foundation based in a small fishing village on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. We are building Taganga’s first Recycling & Art Studio while supporting local youth with free English practice, cultural exchange, and environmental projects.
The Role: English Coach & Fundraising Lead
This role is designed like a teacher’s retreat: just 11 hours/week of English coaching paired with cultural immersion and personal time to explore Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
English Coaching: lead conversation sessions with motivated youth Tue–Thu (2–5pm). These students are already empowered — they just need a coach to help practice real-world English.
Movie Club Sundays: introduce films and use them as inspiration for discussion during the week.
Leadership in Fundraising: help sustain the program by contributing ideas and connections for fundraising. Many of our coaches return home and become long-term ambassadors.
Salary and benefits
Comfortable accommodation and food allowance included.
Tours and cultural activities (yoga in the mountains, snorkeling, Tayrona/Minca trips) — up to $1,000 USD in value covered by the program,
Opportunities for Spanish language exchange and deep cultural immersion.
A close-knit environment — we accept only a few “teacher-leaders” at a time.
Requirements
This is a volunteer placement with compensation provided in housing, meals, and tours (not a salary).
To keep the program sustainable, fundraising participation is expected. We support you with guidance and resources.
