In the Foundation Stage – Pre-school and Reception (3 – 5 years old), your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.
The Alice Smith Early Years Curriculum follows the skills and directives set out in the English National Curriculum.

Students learn English, Mathematics, Science and a Modern Foreign Language whilst also specialising in subject areas which reflect their interests, strengths and aspirations. This stage culminates in GCSE examinations.
Students have the option between 9 and 11 GCSEs depending upon their learning preferences (via combined core and Additional Mathematics plus Triple Science).
Alice Smith students consistently achieve high grades on their examinations – 76% of all GCSE grades were at A* or A (grades 9-7) in 2020 – while also discovering that they are capable of achieving more than they thought possible.
Sixth FormCourse length

Alice Smith School offers a broad range of experiences in Key Stage 5 of which linear (2-year) A Levels are the main academic element.
Your child can tailor their curriculum to suit their interests, strengths, needs and aspirations and follow personalised pathways comprising of enrichment activities (including leadership, service and physical activity) and the Extended Project Qualification; an individual research project on a topic of the student’s choice. This is equivalent to half of an A Level and prepares students for university through the development of key skills.
Students also receive comprehensive support in careers education, university applications and preparation for life beyond school. The result?
