Classes and Student Services
All of our classes are taught by native English speakers and are centered around having average 5-6 students in class (a maximum of 8 per teacher). This allows our classes to be conversation-oriented, requiring active participation from all students and allowing teachers to provide immediate feedback. We also help students throughout their English language school process, from school applications to receiving F-1 visas and navigating local life. Last, the affordable tuition at AELS provides the most reasonable and economical choice for students, as compared to other academic institutions’ hefty tuition fees and medium to large class sizes.
AELS offers courses in ESL (English as a Second Language) and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) preparation, Citizenship/Naturalization Test preparation, journal writing, book club, summer youth programs for international students, and more. Each quarter, we also host a Culture Week, where students will gain authentic speaking and listening experience through a discussion of American media and pop culture as well as personal experience garnered from guided field trips to local theaters, college campuses, local events, and museums.

Language courses at American English Language School
The ESL program at AELS consists of 6 levels, from Basic to Level 5. The final goal of the ESL program is to be able to communicate comfortably in all areas of English, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students will improve grammar and conversational skills.
Our TOEFL program is a 12-week intensive course that reviews the structure of the test, all four skill areas (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), and useful techniques to help you achieve your desired score. We work on one skill area each day Mondays-Thursdays and finish the week with a practice exam that includes all four skill areas on Fridays.
Students will need to either complete Level 5 of our ESL program or prove sufficient English skill by taking our placement test and scoring at or above the score our Level 5 students are expected to achieve by the end of the program. At the end of the 12-week TOEFL class, students will be prepared to take the TOEFL exam. This course may be repeated.
Summer Youth Program for International StudentsCourse length
Our youth summer program is a 8-week course that will immerse students in American culture. They will learn about American history, education, and famous landmarks while also going over reading, writing, and grammar. Students will have an hour lunch break at a nearby park where they can eat, play, and socialize. After lunch, students will either have a presentation, science, or cooking class. Our presentation class is a fun way for students to practice their English speaking skills while showing what they’ve learned. They will also have fun learning about science and eating delicious and creative foods in cooking.
