The Language House TEFL Prague

It’s Sunday night and I’m on a bus writing this review after spending a magical weekend in Vienna. I used to dread Mondays because of the mundane monotony that my life in the U.S. had become. The Language House Prague has opened my eyes and my life to endless possibilities!!
The team at The Language House is one of positive, uplifting and contagious caring. The passion these people teach with and demonstrate day in, day out is the backbone of the program. The ESA methodology that is taught is regimented but the instructors make it fun and engaging. The course work can be very demanding as there is a lot to get done in a small time frame but with the support of so many knowledgeable and friendly staff members… you’re never left behind.
Chris Westergaard is the owner and much appreciated comedic relief. Ask him to do his ‘Czech’ accent!
Andrea is a gem! Creative, concrete and captivating.
Chris Foxwell is an impressive library of language ‘law’ and methodology.

Working at the Language House was one of the best experiences of my life. It was also one of the most challenging experiences of my life! It was, however, my favorite kind of challenging. I never felt lost or unsure of how to accomplish my goals – I always felt like I had the tools I needed for every challenge. After that, it was up to me to apply those tools to the best of my ability! If you’re willing to work hard and learn a lot, this course is absolutely worth it.

The Language House TEFL is second to none when it comes to quality instruction, authentic teaching practice, student support, and course culture for a TEFL certification. The instructors at The Language House are some of the best teachers I’ve ever had in my life, creating a unique course experience that is fun, inclusive, and challenging; every instructor is hilarious, incredibly knowledgeable, and caring. The staff goes out of their way to ensure students are in comfortable living situations and assist them with job placements during and after the course. The Language House community is close-knit and will surely leave you with unforgettable memories and new friends. The amount of positive experiences I gained, professionally and personally, in just a month at The Language House is still unbelievable and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.

The Language House provided me with more than just a TEFL certification. The course provided intensive training and hands-on experience as an ESL teacher. It also gave me a family and community of fellow teachers in Prague. It helped me turn a foreign city into a new home. It was an incredible experience that I am continually grateful for.

The Language House in Prague has it all—top notch instructors, excellent location, and hands-on experience, all for a really affordable price. The instructors at TLH know what they’re doing and they’re there for you every step of the way. I had never taught like this before, but they broke down the methodology into navigable steps and now I feel equipped to be an excellent teacher. They are also super knowledgeable about jobs and provide so much assistance during and after the course. Plus, I made some of my very best friends while studying there! TLH promotes learning and growth, but also fun and collegiality, which makes it such an awesome experience.

I have never been a teacher or taught before in my life. I attended 7 interviews with language schools the week after graduating from The Language House (TLH), and by the end of the week I had 6 job offers and one invitation to the second stage of the application process.
This was because TLH teaches you more than just how to teach, it teaches you how to teach WELL. Every interviewer was impressed with the finer points that become second nature to you end of the course – how to engage students, how to structure a lesson, how to give students the learning experience they want.

Every step of the course has been carefully designed to mold you into the type of teacher that both students and schools want. Most of this comes without even being lectured on it, the instructors lead by example by giving fun and challenging lessons every day. You will leave with a bank of ideas on how to engage students and make a fun learning environment students, no-matter their age.

The course itself is challenging but for all the right reasons. They offer as much real time teaching experience as they possibly could over the 4 weeks, which is the most valuable thing you can offer in your interviews – real teaching experience. Your days will be a mix of lessons on teaching methodology at different levels, grammar, phonetics, how to teach children, how to get jobs and private students, etc, and planning your lesson for later that day, with instructors on hand to help and all the resources you need.

This is by no means just paying for a TEFL certificate, it is hard, but on the other side you will not only have the confidence to stand infront of a room full of strangers and be a great teacher, you will also feel like part of The Language House family.

October 2019 I attended The Language House TEFL Program. This 4 week intensive program was absolutely incredible, though I will stress that it was intense. Even before I had decided to take the course I felt supported and welcomed by all of the staff and alumni. As an anxious individual who had never travelled abroad alone before I was hesitant to take this risk, but decided to do the course because the support, guidance, and positivity of the staff made me feel confident in my decision. Throughout the course I learned an immense amount of knowledge and was able to teach. I believe the best way to learn is by doing and this course offered exactly that. Though this course was really intense and I appreciated the staff’s efforts to encourage us to enjoy Prague and have fun while we were taking the class. I did not end up staying in Prague but will definitely be back! I am so glad I attended this course and met all of these professionals whose main goal is to create amazing teachers.

When I decided I wanted to get certified to teach English, I did a lot of research into many different TEFL programs and I found the Language House. I saw all the great reviews and its rating, and I knew I had found my program. But I still wasn’t prepared for just how amazing the program would be. It really is the best. Though it’s tasking, I had so much fun and met so many great people all while getting a high quality TEFL certificate. I’d recommend this course to anyone!

Taking the TEFL course at The Language House in Prague was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Not only was I given hands on teaching experience with varying levels of English Language Learners but I was submerged in Czech culture. Along with becoming certified through this program, in just a short time I was also able to form friendships that will last a lifetime! I love my TLH family!!!
