International TEFL Academy

My instructor, Maggie Burnett, was incredibly helpful in guiding me to develop engaging and informative lesson plans, as well as providing great feedback about all aspects of teaching ESL.

I took the International TEFL Academy online course from July to August this year and had an OK experience. The course itself was definitely well structured and very informative but the other aspects of the program left something to be desired. I learned a lot about how to effectively teach, control, and organize a class and how to identify different learning styles and how to approach each one. The instructor was very helpful in feedback and was a fair grader. The alumni community is active and full of people who want to help. The problem I had with the course was that when I was finished they barely helped me with job placement. They just throw some recommended schools at you and give some general advice about finding the job in the area which could be found anywhere on the internet. It seems like I overpaid for the online course because I found other options for a TEFL certification in the area I wanted to teach in. Overall, I learned a lot but for what I paid I feel that should help me out a little more in the job search department.
