Job description

The Lycée Francais Blaise Pascal in Abidjan (LFBP) Ivory Coast is looking for inspiring and experienced fluent French educators for the American International Section of our Middle and Upper Schools (the Collège and Lycée) from September 2021
The role is to teach English/American Literature with Humanities (History and Geography): a hybrid role for French speaking native teachers which offers great opportunities for cross-disciplinary teaching.

The LFBP is one of the leading French schools in West Africa and is recognized for its excellent quality of teaching and learning. With a strong international outlook, we seek out cultural diversity and aim to build a sense of community for our students across all age groups.

Our French curriculum, combined with a highly regarded International American Section, promotes a sense of global mindedness, where learning of the English language and American culture, forms an important and integral part of our educational vision.

Our International American Section provides a high quality, creative and challenging international outlook for students from 4th grade to Grade 12( this is not the IB)


Successful candidates for this unique hybrid teaching role will be French speaking and have experience of delivering national curriculum based teaching to children ages 11 to 18 ( College and Lycée).

He/she will:
- speak fluent French and have good written command of the French language
- be ready to teach literature, history and geography
-follow the teaching guidelines of the International American section issued by the French ministry of education
-learn to work in a team with the French and English teachers in the international American section
-demonstrate initiative to design and lead school projects

Salary and benefits

Requirements

Given the requirements of the American International Section within the French Education system, candidates must have the following:

- total spoken and written command of the FRENCH language
-a notarized Bachelors of Education and /or subject degree in Humanities or English/American Literature , ideally from an American University
-minimum 2 years teaching experience
-notarized and clean criminal background check, valid within 6 months
-ability to adapt in a highly dynamic evolving international school environment

Priority will be given to candidates who speak fluent French with ideally some knowledge of the French education system.
