Centro Britanico
Spain, Jaén
Full time

Job title

English Teacher

Job description

Centro Britanico, Jaen is looking for an enthusiastic English teacher to take on 24 hours’ teaching per week, Monday-Friday (evenings only).

The successful candidate will be expected to teach groups of young learners, teens, and adults across all levels, teaching general English courses and exam preparation courses (older teens and adults, only).

Centro Britanico offers teachers a fun and rewarding working experience in Jaen, a quaint Andulusian city. We are a small but plucky school, committed to serving our local community and providing our students with the best English language education possible. We take pride in our high standards but, we don't take ourselves too seriously. We like to play as hard as we work, and students (and teachers!) have lots of fun throughout the year, particularly at Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and Last Day of Term (see our Facebook page for pics!).

Salary and benefits

-- The NET monthly wage, October - May, is 1200 euros based on 24 teaching hours per week. June, being a 3-week month including two bank holidays will be paid pro-rata.
-- All national and local holidays paid
-- Extensive help in finding accommodation and settling in
-- A crash course in survival Spanish, if necessary
-- Living in Jaen! A city that is not too big, not too small, Jaen has something for everybody, be they night owls, nature lovers, or sporty types. Travellers will find Jaen to be a perfect “base of operations” from which to explore: it is well-connected by bus to the other major cities of Andalusia, and by train to Madrid.

The applicant should have a CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL and at least 2 years’ experience, with experience teaching children being ESSENTIAL. Personality-wise, we will be a good fit for each other if you are conscientious and organised, if you love to help people and if you derive satisfaction from playing a part in your students’ and your school’s successes.

Following the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union, UK nationals MUST have prior permission to work in Spain (e.g. Spanish residency, TIE) before applying for this position. Centro Britanico cannot at this time sponsor or support a Spanish work visa application.
