At Institute of English Studies in Barcelona ( IES) , a well-resourced organisation which offers competitive conditions in our field and cares about the welfare of its staff and employees, we have a friendly, cooperative and supportive team of 7 teachers who offer a wealth of experience and show a genuine interest in supporting newcomers both inside and outside the classroom.

The teacher we are looking for must be very competent of understanding and using English grammar, plan their classes carefully and take a great interest in the progress of their students. The applicant must be punctual and organised, with a great ability to motivate our students and follow objectives. We expect teachers to be flexible and to participate enthusiastically in all of the school’s varied activities. In return we will give ample support to enable them to perform at the required standard, as well as provide multiple opportunities for professional development sharing our ideas in the form of the various courses, seminars and workshops which are held throughout the year. We welcome diverse teaching methods and are always eager to try new techniques in the classroom. We believe in teacher freedom and flexibility in the classroom. This is possible due to confidence and trust in our teachers, who we know share our beliefs and values in education.

Salary and benefits

Full-time contract with a competitive salary,19-23 teaching hours per week.

• Full health and insurance cover (Spanish NHS and private)
• Holidays accrued at 2.5 days per calendar month worked
• We invite teachers for a week’s training prior to starting their classes (week beginning 9th September)
• Training sessions are held throughout the year by our experienced team and Director of Education
• Accrued summer holiday pay – payable at end of contract
• 1 week paid induction training
• Training throughout the year including support with attending conferences


Essential -
• Native speaker or C2 level of English
• TEFL qualification (Cambridge or Trinity CertTESOL preferred)
• University degree or higher education qualification
• Available from late September – May/June
• Ability and willingness to teach all ages and levels
• Energy, enthusiasm and creativity
