Job description

The British School of Casale is looking for a new teacher as of January 2019. We are looking for an experienced and versatile professional with a native speaker level of English ready to join a dynamic school with a solid reputation for its didactics.

The town of Casale Monferrato on the river Po is in Piedmont, North West Italy, at the foothills of the Monferrato, an hour from Turin and the Alps to the West, Milan to the East and Genoa to the South. It has a population of 38,000 people circa and it was a runner up for the title of Italian Capital of Culture for 2020. It’s a place of culture, good food and wine and excellent for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling.

Founded in 1991, the British School of Casale prides itself for its excellence in English Language Teaching. It is a reference point for students and state schools who want to learn English and for career advancements. The school is a Cambridge Assessment English Authorised Open Exam Centre (IT050) for the entire suite of Cambridge Exams and has currently 8 Speaking Examiners. This year we’ll have examined over a thousand students. We are also a preparation centre for IELTS and LANGUAGECERT ESOL certifications.

The School courses offer learning outcomes linked to the Common European Framework in order to provide its students with skills and competences that can be profitably utilised and recognised across Europe and elsewhere. It is legally recognised to operate as a provate language school by the Ministry of Public Education, Universities and Research (MUIR). It is also fully accredited by the said Ministry to be a centre for vocational training courses for public school teachers.

Our courses range from General and Academic English to Business English and include the whole range of Cambridge English examinations from YLE to Proficiency, as well as the Business English Certificates (BEC) and IELTS.

Our children and teenage courses are a strongpoint. We believe in an active and dynamic methodology applied to children's classes: English is sound, pronunciation, vocabulary and fun! At the same time we prepare them for the Cambridge Young Learners of English Examinations. This is why we work a lot with State Schools . Our teachers work throughout the year in classes starting from kindergarten straight through to higher secondary school. Many of these courses are also funded by European Social Funds.

We welcome teachers who are willing to be a part of our working environment, who want to blend in and enrich our school by being cooperative and interactive and having a friendly disposition. We follow their professional development, giving them full support throughout the year. If the teacher has the appropriate number of years of experience he or she can be inducted and co-ordinated as a Cambridge Speaking Examiner.

Furthermore he or she will be helped to gain insights into methodology, development of examination skills and class management, when required. This is because we know and understand the local values and mindset and what makes our school better than the competition and gives it the reputation it enjoys.

The teacher we are looking for must be able to manage classes in terms of filling in registers, marking, assessing students for the mid-year and/or end-of-year reports required by our courses and by state schools.
