Are you an experienced native English speaking EFL teacher with primary level experience, now seeking a new challenge in a dynamic primary school environment in French-Speaking West Africa ?

Are you comfortable working in a french-speaking environment ?

Our renowned primary school here in Abidjan, is currently looking to hire keen and adaptable EFL teachers, from September 2020, to teach English as a foreign language to primary children aged between 5 and 11 years old.

If you have worked with students where English is not their first language, you will be coming to the right place, as many of our young pupils are francophone but keen language learners. This is a challenging yet rewarding EFL experience for those who want an experience of living and teaching English to young children in a francophone African country.

Our successful candidates will have experience of delivering national curriculum based teaching to children between ages of 5 to 11 (Primaire)

JACQUES PREVERT , the Primary School is affiliated to the LYCEE FRANCAIS BLAISE PASCAL (LFBP) school, which is one of the oldest and most respected educational establishments in the city: it was built in 1981 and recently totally remodernised. The school boasts exceptional facilities and an international and openminded leadership team, here in the vibrant West African city of Abidjan.

The LFBP primary and secondary schools deliver the French Curriculum and an International American Section, catering to over 2500 pupils from 3-18 years of age. It is one of the largest French teaching establishments within the AEFE network ( Agency for French Education Abroad.

Please note the school does not have the international accreditation to put NQT’s through their induction year at present.

ABIDJAN the lagoon city, is considered a vibrant hub for West Africa with record annual economic growth and an interesting mix of French European and Middle Eastern influences.

Outside of the city, lie many opportunities to discover the country, it's fauna and some stunning sea side resorts.

Salary and benefits

Competitive salary with tax deducted at source and dependent on experience and qualifications

+ return flights to Abidjan for the whole family + one extra return trip to their home country per year for the candidate only, not dependents) during the contract.

+ accommodation bonus (accomodation is not provided by the school but we will assist you find this and help you settle in on all levels)

+ 5 year Ivorian work visa costs to be covered by the school

Requirements

• Qualified native English speaking primary teachers who understand French
• Min 2 years teaching experience
• Notarized Bachelor's Degree and/or teaching degree from an anglophone University
• Good written and verbal understanding of the French language
• Notarized and clean criminal background check, valid within 6 months
• Ability to adapt in a highly dynamic evolving international school environment
• Ideally relatively familiar or keen to familiarise themselves with the French education system
