ENGLISH TEACHER

Job description

To plan and deliver suitable English language lessons to International Summer School students, developing their language abilities and ensuring they have a positive experience at the Summer School. To work as a team to deliver additional English projects and support the Summer School programme as a whole.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Deliver a suitable and developmentally appropriate programme in conjunction with Senior Teachers and the Academic Manager to an acceptably high standard
• Plan and deliver English language lessons to students aged 8-11 years old
• Write suitable lessons plans for each taught lesson
• Assist pastoral staff during house time
• Take class registers/ records as required
• Complete reports on students and carry out any required administration
• Plan and teach additional Extra English classes as instructed
• Work collaboratively to conduct project classes each Sunday
• Attend regular staff meetings as required
• Undertake residential duties as required
• Attend and supervise students while on excursions as required
• Lead the safe transfer of students from activities, as instructed by the management team
• Assist during meal times as needed
• Supervise students while on excursions as required
• Attend the induction course and carry out any pre-course work as required
• Help students achieve their individual best to become confident users of English
• Encourage full student participation and learner independence
• Be involved in the smooth integration of both British and international students
• Attend input sessions provided by Senior Teachers
• Ensure commitments in regards to child protection and welfare are adhered to and best practice followed
• Take all necessary steps to minimise any risk and report any concerns/feedback to the line manager
• Carry out other ad hoc duties as reasonably requested
• Support the Summer School Ethos

Salary and benefits

£400 per week (subject to experience and qualifications); minimum £50 per day for the induction

+ Full board and lodge provided free of charge
+ 1 full day off per week
+ Use of sports facilities including an onsite gym
+ 4 or 6 week positions available

Requirements

ESSENTIAL
• CELTA or equivalent
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
• Ability to relate to staff at all levels within the School, to build effective working relationships and exercise tact and diplomacy
Excellent written and oral communication skills

DESIRABLE
• Experience working with students of this age
• Experience working in a residential capacity
• Safeguarding qualification
