Job description
Your role would include:
Planning and delivering lessons for classes that can range from A0 (illiteracy) to B2, taking into account individual differences in level within each class
Preparing class materials and assessments
Empowering students with interpersonal – and life – skills; and incorporating these skills into lesson planning
Completing various administrative tasks such as tracking attendance and communicating class updates to the students
Ensuring student engagement and progress
Working closely with the Education Manager to ensure the programme is being delivered to the expected standards of Second Tree
Participating in various community engagement activities so as to maintain relationships with students outwith the classroom context such as: picnics, community lunches, sporting events, etc.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working in the refugee context
Experience teaching low-level literacy students

In certain periods of the year, demand is extremely high, and the volunteer houses might be full. If you have the means to pay for your own accommodation, please let us know. We would still be happy to host you if space is available. However, in a situation where the volunteer houses are full, this would allow us to offer a volunteering opportunity to someone that cannot afford to pay rent.
Requirements
You must have a degree in teaching and/or Certification in English language teaching (TEFL/TESOL/CELTA or equivalent).
You should be able to:
Be accountable and efficient, making sure that your tasks are completed in the agreed time frame
Prioritise and delegate tasks effectively, ensuring all deadlines are met; managing a wide-ranging workload
Be honest and transparent; be able to give and receive feedback in the most straightforward way
Care for people: the interests of the people we work with should always be your first concern
Work independently and in a team
Work in a high-intensity environment and be adaptable
Have a flexible attitude and approach to teaching and be willing to enforce strict classroom management
Have strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills
Communicate in an open, honest, direct manner
Have a strong sense of humour: being able to make fun of yourself is key
