Job description

The Au Pair Summer Program 2025 offers a unique 2-3 month cultural immersion in China’s dynamic cities: Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and more.

As a cultural ambassador, you’ll teach English, mentor children, and share your culture while enjoying fully funded flights, free Mandarin lessons, cultural activities, and a stipend for personal expenses.

This program goes beyond a summer abroad - it’s a chance to live with a Chinese family, gain firsthand insights into ancient traditions, and develop cross-cultural skills for an interconnected world.

Salary and benefits

- Fully covered return flights (up to 2000~3000 RMB).

- Full board living with a welcoming host family, all meals included: Experience the richness of Chinese traditions and daily life first hand.

- Monthly Stipend of approx. 2000 RMB.

- Comprehensive orientation.

- Mandarin Classes: Enhance your language skills with 8–10 hours of weekly Mandarin lessons, tailored to suit your proficiency level.

Requirements

1. Nationality and Age:
Ideally from English-speaking countries (Europe, North America, Oceania), native English speakers preferred. Exceptional candidates and ages beyond 18-30 considered.

2. Education:
You must have a high school diploma, fluent English, and proficiency in other languages is a bonus.

3. Clear background:
You have no criminal record, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all participants.

4. Cultural curiosity:
You are eager to embrace and explore cultural differences, making this experience enriching for both you and your host family.

5. Childcare:
You have experience in childcare or tutoring, equipping you to connect with and support children effectively.

6. English teaching:
You are enthusiastic about teaching English and helping your host family’s children develop their language skills.

How to apply

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1. Please complete our application form here.

2. On receipt of your application form, Wanderlust will contact you if you meet the eligibility requirements, and give you the opportunity to schedule a Skype session with a Wanderlust Exchange representative to learn more about the program and ask questions.

3. If accepted into the program, you will be matched with a host family and have an interview with them. Wanderlust Exchange will assist with translation.

4. Wanderlust Exchange will provide you with the necessary documentation to complete your visa application and will request some documentation from you.

PROGRAM COST

Tutors do not pay any program fees to participate in the Program. However, Wanderlust Exchange does require a downpayment of $100 USD to hold your position once you have been accepted into the program and matched with a host family. This is returned to you upon your completion of the program.
