Whom would you like to speak to?

In this question "whom" is an indirect object. Think about the answer to the question to work this out:

I would like to speak to John.

When who is in the object position it becomes whom.

Bear in mind thought that it is uncommon to hear whom in spoken English.

Can I ask where you’re from, Dan? I use WHOM all the time in speaking (where appropriate, of course!).

    Who vs Whom
