    Hi,
I am a recent college graduate, and I am considering getting my TEFL certificate in order to get a teaching job for next fall (about a year from now), but specifically, I would really like to teach in Croatia. I have been looking online and can’t seem to find many job listings or even information at all about teaching in Croatia, job availability, requirements, etc. Any suggestions? Also, I am American, and I know that Croatia is joining the EU next year, so does anyone know if I would have difficulty working there visa-wise (because I’ve heard its difficult to work in the EU if you are not an EU citizen)? Any links or advice at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Basically many of the jobs are found by being in country. And yes, Croatia is due to join the EU but hasn’t yet. If you can get in with a school before this happens and proove your worth as a teacher then they will be able to help sponsor your application. Demand is high so this is a possibility.

Once Croatia does join the EU it will be harder (although not impossible).

I really wouldn´t look to go to Croatia to work as an English teacher as everyone below 40 will speak it sufficiently to work in the tourism industry.

People over 40 are generally too ignorant to start so language schools are almost impossible to find in the country as they are not that interesting.

I am originally from there and was interested in setting up a school near Split, but the market just isn´t there.

Go to Spain or Italy instead.

    Good luck

Not really, people learn from movies, music, and almost everyone travels around Europe when they can as the economic situation in the country is not so good.
