    Hello everyone

Ive just recently received my TEFL certificate in South Africa, and i really want to work in Vietnam Ha noi. I’ve got other work experience, however no teaching experience, and no degree either.
Can anyone give any advice or contacts that will be able to steer me in the right direction? I really don’t know where to begin.
    Any information will greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

You need a degree to teach in Vietnam

Unfortunately you’ll need a degree to teach in Vietnam. This is a legal requirement for a work permit. Someone has written on this page of a loophole whereby “a letter stating that you have 7 years of teaching/training experience is a legally acceptable alternative to a degree when applying for the work permit”, but I don’t know if that is still the case, and without that experience anyway, it might be tricky.

I am sure there are teachers working in Vietnam “under the table” without a degree or experience. This would require going to Vietnam on spec and asking around I think. I’m not condoning this of course, but I’m sure that it happens…

Sorry I can’t be the bearer of better news.
