New to the forum, apologies if this isn’t in the correct location but I’m very new to TEFL. I am looking for work in Japan. I do not have a TEFL certification, but I have a BA (in film studies). I have been told that I can apply for the big eikaiwa in Japan with a BA even though my major isn’t relevant and that I should be able to find work. True?

The real question is when should I start applying? I want to start working sometime around January, February, March. My current lease is up in February so I don’t want to be homeless (currently live in the US) and I don’t want to enter into the lease agreement for another year. It seems like a lot of job postings have a pretty immediate turn-around from interview to start. I would love to start applying now because I’m no stranger to rejection, so I know that if I start applying in January it may take too long to actually land a job. Is there anyway I can start applying this far ahead? Do I just have to wait until I’m ready to leave, start applying then and cross my fingers?

Thanks in advance for the help.
