Hi everyone, i’m new to the forum. can anybody help me please? i’m really confused!

I want to teach english abroad but i’m unsure as to which course to do. i got some info sent through the post from this website about the courses it offers and i’m not sure if i should do the course or not. I’m interested in doing the 140 hour distance learning.

Could anybody tell me what qualifications you need to teach english abroad? i want to make sure i’m on the right track.

Has anybody done the 140 hour distance course through this website, http://www.tefltraining.co.uk or could someone recommend any others please? i’m new to all this and i just want to make sure im going in the right direction.

i plan on going to spain first, i will be learning spanish through the open university in a few months when the course starts.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Sammy,

I wanted to offer some help. My name’s Carol Ibanez and I’m the coordinator of the teacher training program in the IEN in Barcelona. As far as courses go, I would always choose a
face-to-face course as that’s the only way you can really know if a candidate is prepared or not as well as making sure teaching practice is good to recommend that person to continue in the teaching profession.

Be careful with the course you choose, because there’s a lot of scam ads
around. I would recommend to choose a program backed by Trinity College
(CertTESOL) or Cambridge (CELTA) as those are regulated by an external body
and the schools that deliver it are controlled. It really doesn’t matter
which one you choose, but make sure it’s really accredited by visiting
their web pages. I would also choose one already in the country you want to
go to work in. That way, during the course, you get to see what the city is
like, you meet people, you can go hand in your CV to different schools, you
check the price of living ,etc.

If you’re interested in getting the certificate in Barcelona, we offer one
in July and September with Trinity. Let me know if you want some more info,
    here’s out web page:

Hope this helps, if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to contact
    me.
