Hi, I’m currently doing some research on the market for very young learners, usually considered those from 2-4 years old. If anyone can tell me their experiences, particularly regarding pay compared to other teaching areas, extent of job opportunities, job satisfaction, prospects etc I would be very grateful. Please don’t forget to let me know which country you are working in.

I taught this age group in Indonesia many years ago. It was a very small part of the job – an hour a week, the rest of the job was older kids and teenagers. So the pay was integrated with the job as a whole. It was mostly exposing them to basic vocab and getting them to have fun with the language, plenty of running around and laughing – giving them a positive experience of English.

    Hope that helps.

I have worked with young children (grade 3) but not with kids of the age group you are talking about. However, I know from experience job-searching that in Taiwan and China, preschool/kindergarten teaching positions are some of the best-compensated, and teachers willing to take on this age group are in high demand. Do you already have experience with this age group?
