Please help me identify the main mistake in this sentence and suggest activities I could give my student to help her correct these errors.
" I like it when we conversation in class".
I understand her but grammatically it is not correct. I think she is confusing the verb ‘to speak’ with the noun ‘conversation’. Am I right? Please reply I need this for my Celta assignment! :?

There are various possibilities – the most likely of which is exactly what you said. Or she might mean "have conversation" but have forgotten the verb – students often leave words out when speaking spontaneously, especially grammatical words like articles or auxiliary verbs. Here have is a lexical verb, so it’s less likely, but as it’s a very general verb with no specific meaning, it’s a possible candidate for omission.

But without knowing more about the level, first language etc of the student, I’d go along with your explanation.
