    I’ve been offered a position at a language school in Turhal – Tokat (unheard of by many).

    I understand that this is one of the more traditional cities in Turkey. Apparently the cost
    of living is lower compared to Istanbul or any other major city within Turkey (yay or nay) ?

    The 64million dollar question is;

    WILL I BE ABLE TO SURVIVE ON A SALARY OF 1500-00 TL?

    I was provided with the following info;

    The cost of living is quite low in Turhal
    -House: max. 300 TL(Turkish Lira)/month
    -Water + electricity + natural gas: max. 150 TL/month
    -Public transportation: 50 TL/month (I think that you will not need)
    -Phone + internet in house: 50 TL/month
    -Food: 300 TL/month
    TOTAL: ~850 TL/month = ~550 USD/month (1USD =1.6 TL)

    THE OFFER;

    I offer you a salary of 1500 Turkish Lira + health and social insurance + 12.5 TL for each lesson after 80 lessons per month + your work permit expenses (~1200 TL).

    We offer assistance with work visas, residency permits, health insurance, etc. We help you to arrange a room or house. If you decide to work with us, a professional company will help to complete your procedures and we will pay for it.

    ABOUT ME;

    I don’t drink/smoke
    I have an average social life
    Eager to try Turkish cuisine but more than willing to cook it myself
    Istanbul, Konya, Izmir are some of the cities I’d like to explore during my time off.
    The heater is my weakness (Got to do something about my cold hands).

    Additional advice will be appreciated!
