Hi, apologies in advance if this is a silly question.

Are these two accreditations the same thing, or do they carry the same weight?
    1. Trinity Cert TESOL
    2. Canadian Global Tesol College Cert

I understand that 1. seems more widely recognised (along with CELTA) however my current country (singapore) seems to offer only option 2.

    cheers

    Hi Nohjin

The two qualifications you mention are not the same.

You are right that the Trinity Cert TESOL and the Cambridge CELTA are probably the most recognised entry-level qualifications. One reason for this is that they include some teaching practice as part of the course – a lot of schools look for this. I don’t know much about Global TESOL, so I don’t know if their course has a teaching practice component, but I would check – you’ll give yourself more options when you start looking for jobs if you have done some actual teaching on your course.

I think the British Council offer the CELTA in Singapore – could be worth checking out.

Trinity cert TESOL, Cambridge CELTA are the most widley recognised and accepted courses wordwide. They have nothing to do with Canadian Global. The Canadian Global Courses may have the same number of hours.

You cannot have it all ways but if you want it one way, you can teach in Thailand: http://nittayo.org
