    Hi everybody!

I just got my TEFL diploma and I will also get the CAE in June, as I have no degree and as far as I can understand it’s not easy to find a TEFL job without degree. I am not mother tongue either, I am Italian and I’ve been living in Dublin for four years.
Do you know where I could possibly start my career as EFL teacher in Europe? I am very motivated and I am looking forward to this opportunity! Thank you!

    Hi danleri

    Could be a difficult start!

It might be a good idea to start in Italy as you’re a native speaker. I’m working in Italy at the moment and I’ve discovered most schools here prefer EFL teachers to have a good level of Italian. This could definitely work in your favour and maybe compensate for not being a native English speaker. I’ve also noticed some adverts out there with no mention of a degree… :D

    Good luck.

I agree. Starting in Italy would be a good idea. I worked at a school in Spain where several of the teachers were native Spanish speakers. The school taught Engish, Spanish and various other languages, and so these teachers were hired to teach both English and Spanish – it’s a clear advantage for a school to have a teacher who can teach two languages.
