I am new to all this and thinking of doing the weekend and online courses with TEFL Scotland. I have a couple of questions so any replies or advice would be welcome.
    1. If anyone has done a course with them recently, what is the course like and has it proved valuable.
    2. On completion of the course the certificate that is issued by TEFL Scotland is it recognised by employers or not?

    Thanks in advance.

The content of the course looks fairly standard as weekend courses go, and it will be recognised for what it is – a two day introduction to TEFL. It’s important to remember that "recognised" doesn’t necessarily mean the same as "accepted". An employer may recognise the fact that you have studied a weekend TEFL course, but their minimum requirement may be a four week course. Employer requirements vary a lot depending on the country and school, so this qualification will be accepted in some places and not in others. Your employment options will be more limited than if you take a 4 week course.

I would suggest checking out typical requirements of schools in countries where you’d like to teach (have a look at some current job ads here, for example).

    I hope that helps.
