Myself and my girlfriend are planning on spending a year in South America starting from this September. We’re quite interested in working in Brazil or Chile but aren’t sure when is the best time to get a job? When do vacancies usually crop up?
Also, we are a little concerned about difficulties getting jobs together – does anyone know of people being hired in pairs? How best we go about being placed with/near each other?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated! Thanks for your time.

Of course there are exceptions, but in South America the best hiring season is between February and early March for a school year which starts in March. There is not much point in looking for work during the summer months (December, January, and February) or at Christmas and Easter when schools close for the holidays.
Also I wouldn’t go for a job together. Less likely to find it and in case something goes wrong it’s all your eggs in one basket as it were.
