Hello all. I’ve recently gotten stuck in a job where they provide absolutely no teacher training or guidance. I don’t feel very comfortable in front of the classroom and rarely have any idea about what to do, regardless of research on the internet.

I realize that confidence in teaching comes with time, but I would prefer a job that offers teacher training and workshops. The TEFL course was really just a precursor. Does anyone have any experience in this, or have any advice?

    Anything is appreciated. Thank you.

In my experience few jobs offer training other than the occasional seminar or word or wisdom from the DoS.

The good thing is that you seem aware of where you are and what you are doing. It will get easier, but in the meantime try to break down the problems you feel you are having and tackle them one at a time.

What’s the most important issue right now? Think about what that is and tackle it.

That’s good advice from ICAL TEFL. When applying for jobs in the future, one thing to do is to ask to talk to / email some current teachers – you can ask them what kind of training and support are provided.
