Hi everyone! I’m pretty much decided on doing some volunteering overseas, and I’d like to do a TEFL course. Do any of you have any recommendations for companies you used, and details on why you liked them, or any ones to avoid, and again, how come? Thanks!

Are you in the UK? I studied a CELTA at the City of Bristol College (in Bristol, surprisingly!). It was a part time course, two days a week over 10 weeks. I was living in Bristol at the time. It meant that I could work on the other days to pay the course fees, and it also took off a lot of the pressure that I think you get with an intensive course – not all the pressure, it was still a stressful experience, but it just gives you that little bit of breathing space. It was a great course, great tutors, and I’m still in touch with two of the others from the course, 6 years later.
