Teaching in the USA – please help!

    Hi,

    my friend and i want to teach in America from September but i can’t find any kind of working holiday visa type thing that will let us… has anyone taught in America before, what kind of visa did you get, did you have a job offer before you left and do you have any other advice as of how to do this?!

    Have a look here for different temporary visas for working in the US – it looks like you need the potential employer to sponsor you first though:

    It is difficult and I have researched it a lot. Luckily I have a visa through other means but finding a job isn’t easy. A lot of the language schools require their teachers to have a masters in teaching English, something I’m looking to do. To get a working visa is very difficult and the company have to prove that they can’t hire an American when hiring a non American.

    There is also a lot of competition as there are many American teachers around the world and they come back to teach in the states.
