Hi all, I’m new here and am SOOOOO grateful to have found this site. I’ve just submitted my final lesson plan to ITTT and am waiting for a response. EEK!
My husband and I are leaving South Africa in a few weeks to do another tour around South East Asia (Vietnam North, Thailand North, Laos and some other places). Earlier this year we toured around the whole of Cambodia, Vietnam South (HCMC and down), as well as Thailand South, and we decided that we will move there for a few years while my husband completes his PhD and I can teach English.
I’ve read some things about certain countries needing you to have a teaching degree or at least 7 years experience teaching, in order to get a Visa. I’m a little worried about this, as I don’t have a teaching degree, nor do I have 7 years worth of teaching experience.
Which countries (mentioned above) do I have a chance of getting into without the 7 years worth of teaching experience?

Good luck with the lesson plan – did you pass?
I’m fairly sure that both Thailand and Vietnam require a Bachelor’s degree (please correct me if I’m wrong anyone). But it doesn’t have to be a teaching degree – any subject is fine. When you say you don’t have a teaching degree, do you mean that you have a degree but in something else?
Most employers also require a teaching certificate – i.e. a TEFL qualification. Some also require experience, but not all – have a look at some of the current jobs listed for Thailand and Vietnam here to get an idea.
