Ciao! I am a half Italian, live in Uk and from visiting Italy since I was little, I am interested in teaching and would love to teach English in Italy, I am only 18 and my final school year is upon me, anyone able to tell me what subjects/ qualifications I would be best taking or any information on which courses at Uni are best to pursue this? anyone willing to give a little help email me at angelaroserepaints@yahoo.co.uk

I guess that you could go in either as a "standard" English teacher in one of the private schools (in which case a degree and a TEFL certificate would the norm) or you could try for the state schools as an Italian but that’s going to be a lot harder to get into… unless you know someone?

If you are looking for a position in a school, then a TEFL certificate is important as you’ll be competing with many qualified English language teachers.
Obviously for private teaching a teaching qualification isn’t as necessary, but I wouldn’t move to Italy with the aim of only doing private teaching.
