I wonder if there is any hope for me to find a job, teaching English in Beijing as a 56 yr old single lady?As I understand, the Chinese government only issues work visas to persons between 24 and 55!!! I have qualified in 1978 as an English Primary school teacher at a Teacher’s training College and obtained a diploma in Education. In addition I obtained a Diploma in Remedial Education. I have extensive experience as an English teacher at a number of schools and also as a Remedial Therapist at two private schools in South Africa, as well as teaching English to Spanish speaking university students in Venezuela. I don’t have a TEFL certificate either!I am very keen to find out what my chances are, if any???

My understanding was that Z-visas are not issued to anyone over 60-65. Have you checked officially?

That would be wonderful, but I looked at the requirements for teaching in China on the GOLDSTAR TEFL recruitment web site and according to them, it is now the Chinese Government’s policy to only issue Z visas to people between ages 24 and 55…!Please let me know if you find out otherwise!!!Thanks for responding :D
