Hi, this is my first post here and looking for some advice.
I am planning to fly over to Spain next week and see if there are any schools still recruiting teachers. I have my CELTA and a PGCE, but most of my recent experience has been as a UK English Teacher. I initially thought of going to Valencia because it is a city with a beach, but as I don’t speak any Spanish and am aware of gaps in my TEFL experience, I am wondering if I should try a smaller city to start off with.
Can anyone recommend a friendly but still lively place for a woman in her late 30s with my background? Or any good schools? Thanks, MM.

Reply To: Recommended places in Spain
Hi, Sorry for the very late reply, but I’ve only just joined the forum. I teach near Valencia and would recommend it highly. A very vibrant city, great beaches, as you’ve seen, but so much else. If you’re still at the ‘thinking about ut stage’ then check out my blog (link in signature) for a couple of posts about the city and the surrounding area.
But do beware, there is a big recession in the Spanish economy, youth unemployment is 51.1%. (Yes, fifty-one!)
