    Hey everyone,
Some great info on TEFL and CELTA courses, I have been researching these now for a while as I really want to spend a few months teaching in Thailand, I am not planning to do it as career so happy to teach younger students, I am pretty sure TEFL is enough and I have been accepted on a course already, they offer 40 hours online and 80 hours practical, I get my own apartment with internet etc for the time I study in Thailand and also help to find work after completion of the course. There is also a support team set up to help look for work, a one year working visa is also offered aswell ( this is what they are offering but how can I trust them????) the total cost is 1300 pounds around $2700 NZ dollars.

My concerns are, is this too much to pay? is the course legit? Also I have just heard that the Thai government have changed the rules now due to the risk of preditors and that a degree is essential?? I have an HND and 16 years experience as a manager,I learn very quick and I am not worried about doing the course, I have even bought all the books reccommended from CELTA and TEFL websites. I really am confused now I havent a clue what to do??? please help!!!!

    thanks guys

    Hi

I have just returned from Thailand and just want to say that you can only teach in Thailand legally if you have a degree. You get offered a job, show your degree and then fill out all the paper work necessary and get your work permit. You can work illegally if you wish but that is up to you. I know people who are working but they have to leave the country to renew their visa every 30 days or however long they have the visa for.
Don’t let anyone say any different as this is true. A degree gets you a work permit.
    Good luck.
