I´d like to start an online TEFL/CELTA. Only problem is I live in Tenerife and won’t be able to travel to centres to complete face to face sessions. Flights will be too costly. I can’t afford to take a month off work to do the intensive course.
Can anyone recommend a way to get a respected online qualification that can yield employment?
Thanks a million:)

There are plenty of reputable online courses out there so you are in luck!
There are a few key things to look for when choosing an online course:
1. Ensure your course is at least 100 hours. This is what in most places is considered the minimum amount of TEFL required!
2. Choose a provider with the chops to teach you about teaching! Instructors or course designers should be qualified educators. For instance, the OISE TEFL course (https://teflonline.teachaway.com/) was designed by education faculty at the university.
3. Look for student reviews online. This is an easy way to tell if a course is going to match your needs.
On top of that, be sure to avoid anything that sounds too good to be true. Those types of courses usually are!
And remember, with an online course you’ll get a ton of flexibility. It usually is self-paced and more affordable than an in-person course.
