I would like to ask about working in Spain as I recently got a job in Newton COllege, Alicante. Has anyone heard of it? or maybe does anyone know the average salary for ESL teachers in Spain?THX

That school has been mentioned on a few expat forums. It’s an International School as opposed to a language academy. I believe that the majority of the students are British, so you’re likely to be teaching English in accordance with the UK curriculum rather than EFL.http://www.newtoncollege.org/ingles.htm
The pay for EFL teachers in Spain is fairly low. You’re probably looking at €800-1200 net pm, depending on hours worked, qualifications and experience.

Hey, It’s a scam sorry to say. They ‘hired’ me and just a few days before I was going to go there they told me I should pay some money for flights. Naturally I became suspicious and tried to call them….no answer so I googled the school and got a different number. Ok sounds naive to fall for it but they were really professional. 2 hour interview over skype and sent me a contract afterwards. Anyway, just came across your post so I wanted to let you know my experience. The real newton College said that its been happening to a lot of people and the police are investigating it. Anyway, I hope you don’t fall for the same trick as I did.
