I would like to ask about working in Spain as I recently got a job in Newton COllege, Alicante. Has anyone heard of it? or maybe does anyone know the average salary for ESL teachers in Spain?THX

That school has been mentioned on a few expat forums. It’s an International School as opposed to a language academy. I believe that the majority of the students are British, so you’re likely to be teaching English in accordance with the UK curriculum rather than EFL.

The pay for EFL teachers in Spain is fairly low. You’re probably looking at €800-1200 net pm, depending on hours worked, qualifications and experience.

Hey, It’s a scam sorry to say. They ‘hired’ me and just a few days before I was going to go there they told me I should pay some money for flights. Naturally I became suspicious and tried to call them….no answer so I googled the school and got a different number. Ok sounds naive to fall for it but they were really professional. 2 hour interview over skype and sent me a contract afterwards. Anyway, just came across your post so I wanted to let you know my experience. The real newton College said that its been happening to a lot of people and the police are investigating it. Anyway, I hope you don’t fall for the same trick as I did.
