A company called Momentum Recruitment has been posting job adverts for English teaching positions with schools in South Korea. The recruiter uses the name Ethan Parks, with the email address firstname.lastname@example.org.
The recruiter takes applicants through an interview process, contract signing, and visa and flight arrangements, using what appear to be fake contracts with schools and fake travel itineraries. They give the option of arranging the visa and flight for the teacher, wait for the teacher to pay for these, and then disappear.
This appears to be a very sophisticated operation, with a “foreign coordinator” even telling teachers what to pack and sending pictures of the apartment where the teacher will be living.
The teaching contract they create uses the name of a real school, and the flight itinerary uses the name of a real travel agent. The teacher who brought this to our attention contacted both the school and the travel agent directly, who confirmed that these documents were fake, said that they had received several other enquiries from others who had been scammed, and that they had never heard of Momentum Recruitment or Ethan Parks.
