Home TEFL forum Grammar & Vocabulary I need help identifying tense in the sentence.
I was asked this question by another teacher and needed to identify the tense of this sentence and I also needed to explain to her, how to teach the correct form.
He wasn’t a stranger because I have met him before
I thought that it is perfect present tense, but the in my efforts to explain it to her, I failed miserably!
I said that the correct sentence should be: He isn’t a stranger because I have met him before.
Can someone please help me analyze this sentence?
To be specific, what does it mean:"I HAVE MET HIM BEFORE"?
It means that I know him and he is no longer a stranger
He ISN’T a stranger is ,to my knowledge, correct
